Research lineage
TurtleBlock AI is not starting from an empty page. It is a live implementation space for a line of educational research and practice centered on learner agency, inquiry, construction, collaboration, reflection, and computers as environments for thinking rather than delivery machines.
Critical Techno ConstructivismA doctoral framework bringing constructivist, constructionist, critical, technological, and social concerns together around student-created learning.
↓
STEAMHAMLETA vision of a shared, manipulable learning environment where ideas and artifacts become objects that can be moved, altered, juxtaposed, tested, and remixed.
↓
Minecraft as learning environmentExploratory, collaborative worlds where students can build, question, conflict, revise, and let inquiry generate the next curriculum.
↓
Co-active emergenceHuman and machine intelligence engaged in purposeful dialogue, with the machine serving as collaborator and sounding board rather than replacement or authority.
↓
TurtleBlock AI + WorldSpecAn attempt to make that lineage executable: language → representation → world → experience → reflection → revision.
Research as public construction
The project itself is part of the inquiry. WorldSpec, Turtle, the Minecraft adapters, and the public playground will be revised through use. The codebase and website therefore function as both software and research notebook: building the ship while flying the ship.
